Youth vs adult train reservations - is there a difference?

Is there a difference between the reservation cost (with a rail pass) for a 24 year ld "youth" using a youth railpass and the accompanying 26 year old adult on the adult railpass?

We are pricing out tickets vs railpasses with reservations.

I can't quite figure out what is the most cost effective for the trip.

The plan was 5 days of travel.

1- Rome to Padova/Padua.

2- Padua to Milan

3- Milan to Perpignan (night train)

4- Carcassonne to Paris

5- Paris to Brussels

I read most of that link already but I am not seeing if there is a reservation cost differential between youth reservations and adult reservations anywhere. The RailEurope site also doesn't seem to differentiate.

I am just over-whelmed by the options I think.

There is no difference in reservation costs. However, if an youth takes a 2nd class pass and the adult takes, necessarily, a 1st class pass (there are no 2nd class passes for ppl older than 26), you can't travel together in reserved trains. Most railways won't reserve a 2nd class seat if you have a 1st class pass, as it is usually more crowded.

That is odd, the RailEurope website will let me make 2nd class reservations with an adult, 1st class rail pass.

Should I be wary of that?
