Raileurope.com or Alitaliarail.com

Rail Europe is so expensive for train tickets compared to Alitalia Rail, but I have never purchased from Alitalia. Has anyone?

I cannot find alitaliarail.com on the Web. Do you mean trenitalia.com?

I did some quick comparisons. It looks like the prices at italiarail.com are the same as those at trenitalia.com, but there is a fairly expensive shipping fee. The cheapest way to buy train tickets online for travel in Italy is on the national rail site, trenitalia.com. Sometimes there are discount fares which I imagine won't be offered on italiarail.com. Or simply wait until you get to Italy and buy your tickets at the station a day or two in advance of travel. No discount fares that way, but you avoid the idiosyncracies of the Trenitalia site.
