Zurich to U.S. early a.m. flight
I have a 6:55 a.m. flight from Zurich to the U.S. Since I should be at the airport at around 4:00 a.m., I'm thinking of a late train from Lucerne to the Zurich airport which means I'll be there at 00:30. Any suggestions for activities in and around the airport during those early hours? Larry

If it were me, I would get a hotel near the airport rather than spend the night at the airport.
As you have discovered, there is no early train from Lucerne to the Zurich Flughafen (airport stop) to you there in time to check in for your flight. A hotel near the airport with a shuttle is highly recommended for that early hour.
If no other choice with to arrive the night before, check out www.sleepinginairports.com. This website has great information about sleeping in airports.
There is a Radisson Blu hotel IN the airport. Upscale and pricy, but when we were there they offered good deals on weekends.
Using Priceline we got the Renaissance (a Marriott property) for $80 per night. We have stayed there several times-very nice with a pool and a 5 minute tram ride to the airport-tram stop in front of hotel.
