itinerary websites?
does anyone know of any good online itineraries/trip planner? I use tripit but it seems better suited for business travel than leisure. Lonely planet no longer has their online itinerary. other ones seem like they are best for US travel, or driving (AAA).
I would just like a place where I can document my thoughts, plan out itineraries, hotel ideas, sights to see, etc. is that too much to ask?

For information on hotels, excursions, day trips I have found Trip Advisor very useful.
We use a big calendar.
Back of an envelope?
I use 3x5" cards, a calendar, printed out reservations, and everything filed into an appropriate file in my Yahoo! account.
We need something online, don't we? I'll bet there is an APP for it. My generation doesn't go there, yet.
trip advisor has a function like this and i've used it in the past. it's not perfect but i like it more than tripit.
I just use my Outlook calendar. It holds all the info I need and I like the capability to see everything either daily or weekly.
Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I'm going to be spending a year traveling so it would be nice to have a place that I can access abroad and that my family can access, too. I'll probably just make a google document or website. I'll look into the trip advisor.
PS, Right now all my info is scribbled on old notebooks, envelopes, and notecards, LOL.
I use TripIt for keeping my travel-related documents together. I do my preliminary thought gathering in a Word document, then transfer my final lists to TripIt. I agree it is a little clunky for organizing ideas and sights, but I've made do with it, and saved a lot of paper toting for trips.
If you're wanting to have others see your eventual itinerary, you might look into using a Google calendar - you can set it up to share with everyone or just a select few.

Just to clarify one point. You stated that you'll be travelling for a year. Will you be spending all of that time in Europe?
You may want to review the terms of the Schengen Accord, which limits tourist stays in the member countries of Europe to 90-days in any 180-day period.

If you're looking for driving/sightseeing itineraries, each of Karen Brown's guidebooks has suggested driving itineraries for the particular country.
Oh, I'm traveling to S America, SE Asia/China, India, Africa, and for europe, central/east Europe, SE Europe (Greece, and Turkey) and Middle East.
What don't you like about tripit? I love it and use it all the time.
