Recommendations for N Italy in April

We arrive on April 1 (holy week) and will be staying near genova and plan to see the Cinque. Also wife wants to go to Pisa. Beyond that what would folks recommend as must sees in the region. We do have a car and are in a time share for a week.
Thanks
Jim

You might want to look over RS 14-day Village Italy Tour itinerary (mostly northern Italy) go get an idea where his folks think is worth while to visit.

I would consider going to Lucca, NW of Florence. It is a beautiful town and seems like it would not be too bad to drive to/in. The city is very interesting and we had several wondeful meals there. We also enjoyed Parma and Bologna.

Forgot to mention in my last post that Culture Week is April 14 through April 22. This means all of the national museums, parks and archeology sites are free. We have been in Italy during Culture Week in the past and have discovered great places in each town. We always check at the visitor information center to find out what's included.

Lucca, Siena. I think Pisa is a one day place...only the church and tower are the attractions. I will be in Northern Italy the same time. If you need any recommendations for restaurants, etc. let me know.
Lucca and Siena are my favorite places in that general area.

do you have only a week? Where are you flying in and out of?
you can spend a couple of nights in the Cinque Terre area, you can do Pisa as a day trip or spend a night
Lucca is very close to Pisa
Florence is also close and a fantastic city which really needs a few days just to see the main sights...(beware of driving in Florence, see other threads for details)

We are staying at a time share near portofino so it is perfect for the CT. We have a week in Italy before moving to croatia and Duv. We have a car for flexibility althought getting into the CT the trail is possibly better. Is there some place where we could drive to and park at the CT and then hike around?
