Getting From Bath to Wales

We are considering getting an England (only) Britrail pass, but want to spend a few days in Wales. (not necessarily traveling around, maybe just in 1 place. We are trying to figure out how to get there. Is there a ferry boat or a bus from somewhere in England to Wales and what is the cost? or is it going to be cheaper to get the full (england/wales/Scotland) Britrail Pass? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First of all Wales is not an island :-) Coastal boat trips in Great Britain are only for leisure, not serious travel.

From Bath you can easily get trains to destinations in South Wales like Cardiff, Swansea and the Pembroke peninsula. You'll need to get buses or hire a car to get to North or Central Wales, or make a lengthy rail detour through England.

You could check train fares at the National Rail website to see if it's cheaper to take a train in England than to buy a full Britrail pass.(My guess is that it is). http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Since you asked about a bus from "somewhere in England," I have gotten a Funfare from London to Cardiff for £5.50 on National Express: http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx Have also taken First Great Western train: http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/

Sort of like saying is there a bus from somewhere in Arizona to California.

Somewhere in England is a pretty big place. Dover, Carlisle, Lands End, Newcastle? A bit vague?

Wales, although smaller, is no tiny place either. Cardiff, Aberystwyth, Barry, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Conwy, Swansea, Powis, etc.
