Difficult getting from Arles, France to Rome, Italy?

2 adults, one senior traveling from Newark airport USA to Paris. After a 4 night stay in Paris we wish to go to Arles via train (TGV) -2 nights in Arles- then from Arles to Rome on a train -4 nights in Rome. Then back to USA out of Rome. It seems almost impossible to come up w/a reasonable interary on-line. It totally leaves out Arles to Rome. Is there a decent sight for online ticketing that makes sense & isn't bloody confusing? I'm @ whits end?!

You can find trains on bahn.com, but on quick glance it looks like there's no easy itinerary. You're looking at around 4 transfers between Arles & Rome.

Here's the link: http://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml

Ryanair will fly you from Marseille's "mp2" terminal to Rome's Ciampino airport. Very cheap if you want to put up with the inconvenience of Ryanair and a non-major airport.

Marseille is the closest airport to Arles (about 40 miles) from which you can get a flight to Rome.

Linda,
I think flying is going to be your best bet both for time and cost.
