Need a "home base" and travel suggestions in Provence

We will be driving from Barcelona to Provence in mid-June, and we will have 3.5 days in Provence before taking a train from Avignon to Paris. I am looking for a good "home base" in Provence and suggestions on things to do while we are there. We will have our three kids with us (ages 15, 13, 8). We will also have a car.

Suggestions most appreciated.

I'd find a small town of some charm near the sights you plan to visit. St. Remy is a favorite on this board (justly so, convenient to the whole Rhone Valley area), but there are many other choices. Or a room at a country auberge.

A good guidebook or three is your friend for planning purposes. Provence is rich in Roman antiquities, and if this appeals I would include the Pont du Gard and the theater in Orange. Or maybe your family would enjoy exploring a hill town in the Luberon.

Mid June is a great time for a visit, have a blast!

St.Remy gets my vote... perfect size village with a great market, lots of good shopping and restaurants as well as a beautiful drive into the town. Close to lots of other fun places to visit.

Isle Sur la Sorgue is also wonderful.
We stayed nearby at Les Carmes and I highly recommend this place, wonderful spot, great owners, great food, pool. Perfect of you have a car
