Zurich to Paris

We are looking into the best way to travel between Zurich and Paris... train or plane... we found Vueling & Iberia have flights really low and most cases the taxes are more than the flight...one even showed a $0 fare but $107 in taxes.. is there something we should be on the lookout for?

When you take into consideration the time it takes to get to/from both airports, and check-in times, it will be faster and more comfortable to take the train; plus you go from city center to city center. There are direct high-speed TGV trains from Zurich to Paris-Gare de Lyon that do the trip in just 4 hours.

Check schedules and purchase tickets at the Swiss Rail site:

What is your travel date? If you book ASAP (up to three months allowed) on either the Swiss Rail site or the French Rail site, www.voyages-sncf.com, you can get a cheap discount fare. If you book on the Swiss Rail site, you can pick up your tickets at the station in Zurich. If you book on the French Rail site, you can print your own tickets.

...the Swiss Rail site will also allow you to print out tickets for this journey at home.

We are not leaving until September... we know we can not book any trains right now.. just trying to figure budget and timeline..are the trains from Zurich to Paris scenic? When checking rail.ch it gives us a cheaper rte out of Basel but when we look we can't find the fare they quote..we are actually leaving from Brienz

The journey is not especially scenic. The fare will be cheaper via Basel because it's closer to Paris than Zurich is. There are also direct TGV trains from Lausanne, Basel, Bern, and Geneva.
From Brienz it makes more sense to take the train from Basel.
