Safety@Peretola airport fir late evening arrival
Arriving at 22:30 at Florence airport. Is it safe to take public transportation? or is a taxi safer? how much should a taxi cost? Thanks for comments. nancy

Florence is pretty safe. There is a public bus just past the taxi stand at the airport where you catch the bus to the Santa Maria Train station which is close to the centre of town. I believe it only runs every 30 minutes however, so if you miss it, you could have to wait another 1/2 hour.
It is a flat rate of 20 euro from the airport to anywhere in central Florence by taxi plus 1 euro for each piece of luggage the driver puts in the trunk. At that hour, I would personally just take a taxi directly to where you are staying. It's easier, it's a flat rate as long as you are staying centrally and you don't have to transfer again to get from SMN station to wherever your final FLorence destination is. And no need to tip - it's not expected.
By the time you clear the airport, you may not have the bus option (I don't know if the bus runs after 11pm or midnight). Taxi will be more convenient.
