Train from Bled to Munich

I have been online to Bahn.com and am looking at train schedules trying to get from Bled/Lesce in Slovakia to Munich. It looks like there is a nonstop high speed train on this route. Am I reading this correct?

Anyone have any experience with the train out of Bled?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

You are reading the DB schedule correctly if it's the 09:53 departure. That's EC Austrian train going directly to Munich, which after Bled makes one more stop in Slovenia, then heads into Ausria going to Munich. Haven't ridden that route.

Fred,

thanks for the quick reply. I'm planning a trip for next May and am trying to figure out where we want to fly back to the states from. I had to wag it on the dates because it looks like the schedule for next May isn't up, yet. I'll keep watching so that I can buy my train tickets ahead of time.

Appreciate your help.

I did this route just this year. I took the EC 1212/1112 9:53 train from Lesce Bled to Salzburg (24 hour layover) then Railjet 60 (high speed) the next day to Munich. The EC 1212 is a small, not high speed train - comfortable, but not fast (13 stops, 3.5 hours, with a short/no change stop in Spittal-Millstättersee). The Railjet from Salzburg-Munich is quick, comfy, and fast (no stops). I bought on bahn.com 90 or so days ahead and got a great deal (79 euro for whole route, first class).

CL,

The Bahn.com website is showing a 9:53 departure to Munchen (I'm thinking that's Munich) with no changes. Total 5:40 hours. Am I reading this wrong?

Mimi,

No, you are not reading the DB schedule incorrectly.

Whether the 09:53 dep. is a direct shot to Munich can depend on a number of factors: the date you have in mind in May 2013 (based on the schedule then) is a direct day or one that requires a change in Salzburg, or it's a week-end, or just Sunday, it varies.

I just put in an imaginary week day date (within the next couple of weeks) and connection from Bled-Munich is indeed direct. It may change once the summer schedule is over. I myself would prefer a direct EC connection that would make the required change in Salzburg unnecessary.
