Paris ! Reasonable and favorite restaurants
Hi there,
As everyone has been so helpful in the past, I'm asking for your advice on some reasonable, and/or favorite restaurants in Paris. We are staying in the 1st ARR, but willing to walk/Metro to a good, "where the locals eat" restaurant. Any advice or tips ? We are leaving on Friday, finally, for France and for the first five days will be in Honfleur, Bayeux, Mt. St. Michel, and then Paris for five. Thanks for your tips !

Our favorite reasonably-priced meal in Paris on our 2010 trip was L'Avant Goût at 26, rue Bobillot, Paris 75013 http://www.lavantgout.com/en
Cuisine: French neo-bistro. Their prix-fixe lunch cost 14 Euro at the time and included soup, main, glass wine and coffee but not dessert. You can buy take-out meals at their market across the street. It was just what you would want in a French bistro - red lacquer paint, close-together tables, great service even in response to my franglish, and sublime food. It was pretty easy to find on Google and get to on the Metro. 13th Arrondissement near Place d'Italie and across from a large hospital.
Otherwise, I'll repeat the usual advice to this question: check out two of the best Paris food blogs at http://www.davidlebovitz.com and http://chocolateandzucchini.com; search the helpline for the plethora of previous threads on this topic; and read TripAdvisor reviews. That should give you too many choices!

Take a look at the David Lebovitz website (just google his name). Mr. Lebovitz is an American ex-patriot living in Paris and he has detailed reviews of all kinds of restaurants from street food to haute cuisine. His website is very addictive. Have fun.
There is a lot of great Asian food in Paris, which locals certainly eat at, but most north americans want to eat french food in Paris.
I like "La Cabane a Huitres" a fantastic oyster joint near Montparnasse, and for a standard good cafe, "Cafe Pasteur" was great and reasonably priced. I am sure there are non-touristy, non-gougy cafes like that one all over, there are just the ones that I ate at because they were convienent to where I was staying.
I would try to do a search on Chowhound or another foodie based website for more comprehensive recommendations.

We ate last week at "Albion" and it was our best meal in Paris, and lowest price restaurant meal of the week. It is located 1 block from the "Poissoniere" Metro stop (rue Faubourg de Poissoniere, downhill or south)
Excellent food and very reasonable bottle wine since the restaurant also doubles as a wine shop. Reservation recommended, we lucked out and got in due to a cancellation. Hayden, a Kiwi and one of the partners, is the front man and the other partner runs the kitchen. Send a private message and I'll get you the phone number.
Chez Pommette, 86 Rue Lepic, 75018 (Montmartre). Delightful. Also next door to a mussels and beer joint that I didn't try, but would have loved to. Everyone sitting outside was speaking French and enjoying themselves.
