Is it worth going to Cinque Terre in late Nov/early Dec?

If it's a clear day, maybe. If you are on your way around there, let's say in Pisa, maybe. But I wouldn't go out of my way for that in December.

I'm curious to hear what others say because we are planning to go in February. I know that many of the hotels and restaurants are closed but it seems to me if I'm looking to avoid tourists, off season should be great in CT.

Prepare for rain, and if/when it rains, there's not much to do in the CT. Bring a good book: that's what I always did at the Oregon Coast in my Nov and March visits....

I agree with other posters. I was there in October several years ago and it was cool, cloudy and not much going on.

I agree with others...I think your time might be better spent somewhere else where you have a better selection of indoor activities in case it does rain. We were there a few years ago in mid-September and it rained 2 of the 3 days we were there and there truly wasn't much to do when it was raining. At least in Florence, Rome, etc. there are a variety of museums or indoor activities but in the CT, there's really nothing to do if it's raining a lot.

If you crave a coastal visit, try Sorrento at that time of year. More is open, more daytrip options, and more indoor activities if it rains. Naples arch. museum is only an hour away by train. We were in Sorrento for a week last December and loved it.
