Checked Luggage on Bus to Siena

It is clear that taking a bus is the best choice from Rome to Siena. How safe is it to check your larger bags? Do you get a ticket stub for your bags? Thanks for the assistance.

The driver puts them under the bus and pulls them out when you arrive. There are no stops, so very, very little chance of your bags disappearing. You just wait outside the bus till he/she pulls yours out. And I agree, the bus is the better way Rome-Siena.

There's room on the bus for a small daypack in an overhead area, so you should keep anything valuable in that bag; large bags go inside the luggage compartment. I've done this many times, with multiple stops, and never lost a bag. You'll be loading the bag yourself, but don't be surprised if it shifts in transit and other bags get placed on top of it. No ticket stubs are issued.
