Sainte Chapelle security
I seem to remember reading that all bags (purses, etc.) had to be within a certain limit in order to be allowed into Sainte Chapelle. Darn if I can remember the limit. Looked in all my tour guides and can't find it. Anybody know if there is such a restriction. I'd hate to have them confiscate my largish purse.

Nancy, I don't know about Sainte-Chapelle specifically, but since it's connected to a government building, there is strict security. If your purse is too large they'll probably have you check it for retrieval on your way out; or, take a smaller bag with you for the visit to Sainte-Chapelle.
I have a backpack with me when I'm touring and I am pretty sure it wasn't an issue. I do remember very long security lines because it is also the entrance to the Palais du Justice - the law courts. I also remember that the security closed for a lunch break, which made the lines even longer in the early afternoon.
I was there about a month ago and some people in line had large bags or purses. I didn't see anyone's bag get confiscated. All bags have to go through an X-ray machine and I think they're more worried about what's in the bag than how big it is.

We were there a week ago and my husband carried in a backpack. However, they did take his corkscrew wine opener. They put it in a envelope, gave him a ticket and he was able to pick it up as we left. The sign had a number of things that they will not let you take in including silverware and Swiss army knives. It would be best to leave any sharp objects in you hotel.
