Edinburgh B&B's?
I'm currently living in London and hope to take a 4-day trip to Edinburgh, Scotland next week with a friend. Does anyone have recommendations for affordable B&B's, guesthouses, or hostels near the city centre and/or Waverley train station of Edinburgh? Recommendations of must see sites or day-trips (without a car) would be also be appreciated. Thanks!

We rented apartment so can't help with B&B'S but my two favorite sites are the Royal Yacht and Mary King's Close just down from the Castle. Be sure to be at castle when they fire off the cannon at noon. Enjoy.
I stayed at the Walton. Close to Waverly and decent pricing.

Lindsay - You could to a day trip to Stirling. Same day return is only £13.30.
Last spring my daughter and a friend stayed at Budget Backpacker. She said it met her needs very well.
I'll second the recommendation to do a day trip to Stirling. You can also easily do a trip to Glasgow.

We just returned from a trip to Edinburgh and stayed at RS recommended Priestville Guest House. Colin, the host, couldn't have been nicer and even drove us to his favorite restaurant-one we'd already ed from RS.(Turkish)
We arrived by train after dark, so we took a taxi there, but the next day we walked back from the castle. It was raining the day we had the most time (surprise) so we walked the Crags instead of Arthur's Seat, but that was great. I enjoyed the Toy Museum, the Cathedral and the Castle and we also had a lovely spot of tea to ward off the chill at the Elephant Tea Room where Harry Potter was written. Have fun. It rained alot-we didn't care.
Oh, even Colin's Haggis was pretty good!
