Traveling from Venice to Aix-en-Provence

Does anyone have any good ideas how to travel from Venice to Aix-en-Provence without taking 9 hours or breaking the bank?

Air France flies non-stop between Venice Marco Polo and Marseille, but not every day of the week. The fare can be less than €100. Take the train from Marseille to Aix-en-Provence.

EasyJet has low fare flights - €24.5 - several days a week from Venice to Lyon and you can catch the train from there.

One option is to take the Thello night train from Venice to Lyon. Departs at 19:57 and arrives Lyon TGV at 8:40am. One train change at 6:29 in France. At Lyon, you can then take a 90-min TGV to Aix-en-Provence departing at 9:06 or 10:06. Yes, this takes 14+ hours on the train but at least you are on an overnight sleeper which avoids a hotel stay.

Thanks guys,
I think we will fly from Venice to Marseille and rent a car to go to Aix. We will be in Aix a week so we need a car to see the sights. Can't wait!
