Can you take your luggage on the lifts over Mt Blanc?
This summer we are planning a trip from Italy over Mt. Blanc into France.
After reviewing Rick's France guidebook, I still have a couple of questions.
We have backpack suitcases. Do they allow these on the lifts?
We are traveling light. I dont want to pack cold weather gear. Is it possible to rent a coat for the lift rides? We would have to rent coats in Italy and drop it off in Chamonix. E` possible?

Yes, one large backpack per person will not be a problem.
Is it possible to rent a coat for the lift rides?
No.
I don't know of any scheme that allows such rental.
In any case, if you are visiting areas around the Mt Blanc, you do want to have a warm coat regardless of whether you climb the mountain or not.
