Problem with Hotel , deposit sent now they won't respond!
I reserved 3 nights via email in Monterossa al Mar at the Hotel La Colonnina. I sent us travelers checks with deposit and now they will not respond via email and their fax number won't go thru either. I got the hotel from the Cinque Terra website. I am worried! we are leaving Tues. and the reservation is for 4/6-4/9/07 What should I do?

I've had same experiences and found that the people were either away or hadn't read the e-mails. As for the fax in Italy it is often the same number as their phone line.If they have it in phone mode it will not go through. We had one B&B who only had their fax machine on at night. I'd try e-mailing again with a receipt of mail request. You could also just phone them taking time difference into consideration.Good luck!
Thanks for the encouragement and info. on your experience. This was a hotel recommended in Rick's book on Italy so I do believe it's not a scam.If I don't hear anything soon I will call. I speak no Italian so I hope they will speak some English!
This isn't too unusual. I've found that some places figure, "Well, they paid the despoit, so they know they have a reservation." I empathize with your anxiety, though.
