hotels in Como Italy
Any suggestions for a reasonable hotel ( 130.00 and under) for a double in April 2013 in Como. Nothing in Rick`s book.
Also do hotels pick up at the train station there?

Just to confirm, you're planning to stay in the town of Como rather than other points on the lake? Varenna is the usual favourite for visits to Lago di Como, as it's perhaps a bit more interesting than Como and makes a good "home base" for visiting other towns on the lake such as Bellagio. That's why it's featured more prominently in the RS Guidebooks.
There are several train stations in the town of Como, but I'm not sure which of the Hotels might pick-up at any of the stations. I normally use a Taxi to get from the station to Hotels when I'm hauling luggage.

Jack, nothing wrong with staying in Como. The main station is San Giovanni. I don't know of hotels that pick up at the station, but the station is close to the center of town. I haven't stayed at Hotel Borgovico, but friends have recommended it, and it gets good reviews on booking.com for 125 euro double in April 2013.

Want to stay there because we`re coming from Basel Switz arriving late afternoon.The alt was going to Milan, staying overnight there( rather stay in Como and see some more of Lake Como the next day from a different perspective) and then to Varenna where we`re staying

Staying one night in Como will certainly provide a different perspective of the lake, but I try to minimize one-night stops as they're a bit of a nuisance.
In the same situation, I'd probably continue on to Varenna. One of the shortest trips I could find from Basel to Varenna was 6H:52M, with one change at Milano Centrale.
