Transportation

Hi, we are traveling from Florence, Italy to Sorrento, Italy end of June. Any comments or suggestions on whether we should fly or take the train? Thank you!

There is no airport in Sorrento.

You have two options:

1. Take a high-speed Trenitalia train from Florence to Naples. The trip takes 3 hours and the standard 2nd class fare is €68.00. However, if you book well in advance (up to 120 days allowed) on trenitalia.com, you can get a Super Economy fare as low as €29.00. In Naples go to the lower level of the Napoli Centrale station and take a Circumvesuviana commuter train to Sorrento. Trains run at least twice/hour, the trip takes just over one hour, and the fare is less than €5.00.

2. Take the train to Naples as above. If the weather is nice, you could take a hydrofoil from Naples to Sorrento. The trip takes 30 minutes.
