Venice train station- baggage storage for 7 hours

We will be in Venice for about 7 hours (I know, what a shame!)and want to be able to leave our luggage (about 4 pieces) in storage while we take in the city before taking the train to Rome. Is there storage available at the station? Is it Safe? Any other thoughts or opinions.....
appreciate your insights

Yes, you can find the "Deposito Bagagli" (Baggage Storage) near track no. 1 of Venezia SL.

It will cost you 5 euros (a piece) for the first 5 hours, then 70 eurocents every additional hour after 5 hours.

Storage is manned, therefore relatively safe.

7 hours is kind of little for Venice, but better than nothing.

We did something similar in Venice and wanted to pass along a tip. The bag storage is further down track one than you think and not clearly marked. We finally found it. Be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes to walk back down there to get your bags when you get back. They will want to make a photo copy of your passport which takes a little more time. Also, make sure the person who dropped off the bags picks them up due to the passport copy on file.

Our experience in July was that the lines both to drop off and to pick up our bags were quite long - pickup took over half an hour. So don't cut your departure time too close - unless of course it's not high season when you go!

We had the same experience as Nelly, really long slow moving lines to drop off luggage. Took much longer than expected, maybe an hour. Pick-up did not take quite as long, later in the day.

Thank you all for your responses.
Based on your excellent advice, we have decided not to travel with luggage to Florence and hopefully that will make our journey more pleasant.
