Public transportation from Bath to the Cotswolds

Is there a fast bus route from Bath to the Cotswolds? I won't be able to use the Mad Max tour bus because of my departure date. (I know I can take the train, but the time is long, with several transfers.)

Where in the Cotswolds in particular?

Gwen, don't know where you are looking, but both the German rail site snd the British web site show 2 trains an hour from Bath to Cheltenham with either one or no changes, with travel times of 1 to 1.5 hours. Cost under 20GBP.

No, there is not assuming you want a tour - and Cheltenham is unlikely to be where you want to be. Is it a particular place you want to visit? If you want a general tour, then there are other companies from Bath other than Mad Max.

I want to get from Bath to somewhere near Stow on the Wold. I see in Rick's guidebook that I can do that by train to Moreton in the Marsh, but it will take 3 hours with a couple of transfers. Was hoping for a good old fashioned bus (not a tour).

Pick your connection and you can do Bath-> Moreton in 2hrs 15 mins by train, changing once at Didcot. This is a cross-platform change (2->3). Even an extra change at Oxford is not as bad as it could be as it is the same platform.

There are buses to Stow from Cheltenham, but these do not leave from the railway station.
