UK in Early February

We've been to London and other areas of the UK before. Other than London museums, what is there to do in the UK in early February - especially outside of London?

I've visited London a number of times during winter. I actually prefer it when it is cold which means relatively few tourists are around. The city is in full swing with West End theater, concerts, opera, galleries, museums, restaurants, historic sites, pub crawls and bundled-up walks in the parks to keep you occupied. Outside London, pick a city and go explore it. You might catch a train to Cambridge or Oxford and spend some time there. It really depends upon your interests.

I'm not sure I understand your question, either:-

a) are you asking which of the usual attractions are open in February? If so, except for the truly seasonal, pretty much everything I imagine - the only difference is that for some outdoors ones such as ruined castles or Stonehenge, you clearly need to take account of the weather and dress appropriately (and for some, such as visiting a beach then although open, it is obviously not an ideal time to go). If you are mostly seeing indoor places, February makes little difference; or

b) are you asking if there is anything special on in early February? If so, yes but it depends on your interests - e.g. the Calcutta Cup is then but you may not be able to get a tickets, some gardens, especially in the south, will be having "Snowdrop Open Days". It is also Cheltenham Folk festival (no appeal to me, but is to others presumably). What are you looking for?

General advice - it will not be surprising if there is weather related travel disruption in early February (e.g. train cancellations because of snow). How likely, nobody knows and it varies anyway depending on where you are. So be willing to be flexible and build in extra time when driving.

I agree with Tex - I love the UK in winter. Summer can be gorgeous, but it always seems like everywhere you go it's crammed with tourists. We just got back from a week in London, and had an incredible time, despite low gray skies and chilly wind.

I don't even rule out going to the beach in January/February. Just wear appropriate clothing! And nipping into a pub for something refreshing seems that much more delightful when you've come into the warmth from outside.

These days, every attraction you can think of has a website, so check for shortened winter hours... but truly, everything should be open for business as normal.
