Berlin Mitte

I am looking for recommendations for a nice place to stay in Berlin "Mitte". I would prefer if it is farily close to a Ubahn stop and whatever the price it includes breakfast.

Thank you.

Arcotel Velvet is on Oranienburger Strasse, next to both an U-Bahn and an S-Bahn stop, a 10-minute walk to Museuminsel, and when I stayed, included a small breakfast of a bagel sandwich and coffee, plus apples in the room to take with you as a snack.

The Meininger Hotel right by the Hauptbahnhof was recommended to me, and I booked two nights there for September; reviews say the breakfast is good. It costs extra, but reasonable.

My new favorite budget hotel in Mitte is the H2 Hotel at Alexanderplatz.

It's a pretty cool, brand new and well designed hotel. Plenty of young people from all around the world stay there.

It's walking distance to U-Bahn/S-Bahn Alexanderplatz plus a bus stop is around the corner as well.

Steve:
My wife and I are looking for the same type lodging as you. We're looking seriously at the Arcotel Velvet, but we haven't made a reservation yet. The breakfast isn't included and the description doesn't sound scrumptious. I'll watch this thread; if you find a dynamite deal, post it please.

I stayed at the Maritim Hotel on Friedrichstraße. Very elegant and modern, with a fantastic breakfast spread. It sits less than a 10 minute walk away from Brandenburger Tor. But the one thing it wasn't: cheap.
