Easter in Florence

We're going to be in Florence for Easter and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how best to see the fireworks at the Duomo, did anyone attend the 7:30a Easter mass at the Duomo and would it be better to tour the Duomo Musuem and the tower on Easter or the on Saturday the day before or another day as we're there for a week. And if the suggestions are not to look at the Duomo on Easter Sunday due to the crowds what should we see instead?

Easter is a Big Holiday in Italy! I was in Rome last year for Easter and needed tickets to get into that Mass. Not sure if you'd need tickets for the Duomo. Check with your hotel. If tickets ARE needed, they may be able to get them. Make sure you have dinner reservations for Easter Sunday AND Monday since many places may be closed or crowded. I wouldn't miss the Euomo on Easter. I survived the 100,000 crowds at St. Peters and wouldn't have missed it for anything!

We aren't staying in a hotel we're staying in an apartment so we can't book it that way.
