Will be visiting Italy in May and would like to find a private tour guide for for 4 people to pompeii and the almafi coast. Can you recommend a company or person. And what should the cost be.

You might try posting this on the section called To The Boot since you specifically want AC and Pompeii help.
Context Travel is very good. Check their web site, looking at the Naples-area tours. They post prices both for private tours and for small group walking tours (max of 6 people), so you can price both options. The Rick Steves guidebooks also lists private guides, although I've always used Context (in multiple cities in Italy and elsewhere). I've been disappointed when I've used other walking tour operators... the content often seems to be geared to the lowest common denominator.
