Input on this Abruzzo-Dalmatia Itinerary, Please
Planning a trip to Abruzzo in Italy to visit the small village from which my maternal grandmother's ancestors immigrated to Canada. My wife and I have always wanted to see some of Dalmatia, and I'm thinking of combining the two via ferry into a trip just under two weeks. Any thoughts on this plan? In terms of our home bases? And nights per locale? Thanks!
-Fly Chicago to Roma, Italy
-Train from Stazzione Tiburtina to Sulmona, Abruzzo (2 hrs 50 mins)
-4 nights Sulmona, Abruzzo with day trips to Bucchianico, Abruzzo National Park and La Aquilla
-Train Sulmona, Abruzzo to Termoli, Abruzzo (2.5 hrs)
-2 nights Termoli
-Train Termoli to Bari (2 hrs)
-1 night Ferry Bari to Dubrovnik, Croatia (with private berth/beds, 9 hrs)
-3 nights Dubrovnik with a day trip to Montenegro
-Bus from Dubrovnik to Split, Ferry to Hvar Island (5.5 Hrs)
-2 nights Hvar
-Fly Split to Chicago
