Are the trails open in Cinque Terre?

Are the trails open in Cinque Terre? Will be taking day trips to CT June 1-5, 2013. Not sure if the number 2 trails are open. Besides the Via Amoure trails, what other is suggested?

Patty, you're inquiring in the wrong forum .. Italy questions are in the Europe Forum... this is Greece & eastern Europe (balkans etc).

Actually Italy has it's own forum... try posting there. It's listed as

To the Boot: Italy

Patty,

The Sentiero Azzurro (No. 2) trails are all still closed, but it's expected that most (if not all) of them will be re-opened when tourist season starts on about April 1st. They were all closed a bit early last fall, following a devastating rock slide on the Via dell'Amore which injured four Australian tourists.

The trail from Manarola to Corniglia was closed for most of last season, so whether it will be opening is uncertain. Which of the trails is "suggested" will depend on your hiking ability and how strenuous you want the hike to be? The most challenging section is from Monterosso to Vernazza, as that involves a fairly rigourous climb at the beginning. You can choose which ones you want to hike, and just take the local trains on the other sections.

Note that a Park Pass is required to hike any of the No. 2 trails.

Happy travels!
