Ferry from Liverpool to Dublin...

We are flying into London and out of Dublin. We will rent a car in England but the drop off charge in Ireland is $700! We want to drop it off in Liverpool take the ferry to Dublin and rent another car there. Any suggestions? I know the Liverpool-Dublin ferry is car only, no foot passengers. We will take the ferry from Holy? to Dun? Is that a good plan?

You should actually be able to go Hollyhead to Dublin, rather than to Dun Laoghaire. Check out Irish Ferries.

Test booking: 4th July 2013 Hollyhead to Dublin, departs 11:50 on the Swift, 2 adult foot passengers costs £68... I've certainly done this in the past too.

Thankyou very much Jim for being diligent inspite of my insistance! I thought I had reserched it sufficiently but appears not. You have been a great help. Cheers and happy traveling, the next one is on me!
