Beer tour in Prague

Has anyone done a beer tasting tour of Prague?
I was looking to spend an afternoon doing something food related, but it seems that when in Prague it's all about the beer :)
Would like to learn (and taste) more.....
thanks

An excellent idea! I've never done a tour, except wandering with friends from pub to pub, but a couple of interesting articles might start you on your way

I really like Pivovarsky Dum, the second brew pub mentioned in the blog, and there sampler is a good way to try a lot of beers. Some of the other articles tagged Prague in the blog are also interesting.

If you are there when it's warm Letna is a great place to have a beer early evening.

There are plenty of pubs in Prague. My favorite: U hrocha address: Thunovska 10, U zlateho tygra (Husova 17), U dvou kocek (Uhelny trh). They all have excellent Pilsner Urquell. There is a lot of information about pubs on Internet. You can have a tour of Prague brewery called Staropramen. Just google Staropramen brewery for information. You could find these websites interesting:

Unfortunately the trick to make websites clickable does not work on these ones.

Alan & Ilja - thanks for the links - will need some time for more research.
Looks like I'll just put together our own pub to pub sampler...

Was hoping to join up with a small group to walk/taste/learn more about the various brews of Prague.

We did a beer tour in Prague last spring. I would not suggest it though. We ending up touring the same places I had already researched. With a little research and planning you can save yourself a bundle (more money for beer)! By the way, try to make it to U Fleku. They serve a dark beer that was fantastic. Oh, and they will keep bringing them until you say STOP! Have a great trip.

Ron - thanks for the heads-up...don't need to waste money on something we can do just as well ourselves. And my husband loves dark beer - will add your suggestion to the list.

Linda, a few blocks from U Fleku is U Medvidku, which also serves a great beer. I think you will enjoy both tremendously. If I was doing it again, I would end the day at U Fleku. The atmosphere there was incredible. Just remember, the shots aren't free. They will bring them around on trays and pass them out freely, but you will get billed for them!

I wouldn't recommend the beer tour. We did it a few years ago and it was just ok.
