areas near Lake Como

I have 3 days to spend somewhere near Lake Como or
thereabouts. We end up in Milan. Anyone got any ideas. I looked at Sion or Stresa. Are any of the other
lake towns worth a stay?

I have stayed in Stresa. It is near a place called the Borromaian Islands (sp). There are 3 of them accessible by ferry boat. Well worth exploring. Stresa is also a pretty town. Ernest Hemingway wrote A Farewell to Arms there. You can visit his hotel if you want to.

We stayed in the town of Como and took the lake boat to some of the other towns (Bellagio was our favorite). We loved staying right on the lake, it was absolutely beautiful!

Linda,

Both Varenna (Lago di Como) and Stresa (Lago Maggiore) are only about an hour from Milan. Both would be good locations to visit for three days.

Of the two, Stresa probably has more options for sightseeing and day trips. If you need suggestions on that, post another note.

Happy travels!

Thank you all for your feedback. I set my Lake Como
back a couple of days. We will stay in Ravenna ( thank you Rick)
We will spend those extra days in Wengen soaking up the Alpine
Beauty. Keep on travelling.
