rental cars for Sicily and Provence

I'll be renting a car for one day in Sicily to get self, daughter, and bags from Agrigento to Siracusa, stopping at Piazza Armerino/Villa Romana and possibly Morgantina. Do we need a car with a trunk to hide our suitcases? Or can we just get a tiny little car and put bags on the back seat while we're off sightseeing?

And in Provence, renting a car to get from Nimes to the Cotes du Rhone villages and then do local sightseeing. Everything I read says "don't leave anything in your car" - so does that mean we need to drive straight from Nimes to our new hotel, drop the bags, then backtrack to Pont du Gard for sightseeing? It doesn't seem far, so not a big deal to do so if that's the advice.

Thanks for all the helpful comments on my past questions!

I would get a car with a trunk. I've been to Villa Romana do Casale and Morgantina, parking lots did not have attendants as of last summer. If you go to Morgantina, be sure to stop at the museum in town; the Goddess of Morgantina is back home after being a captive at the JPG museum in CA.

This issue of things left on cars is a bit overblown IMHO. It does apply for overnight stays, but for day-time stays on busy parking lots (such as that on the Villa Romana del Casalle) it shouldn't be so much of a problem.

Thanks, Zoe and Andre! The warnings about not leaving stuff in cars are specifically for Provence, so if anyone has guidance for that region I'd be grateful. We were originally planning to stop at Pont du Gard on our move from Nimes to the C du R village but the warnings have me a bit worried.
