Biking from St Goarshausen - Bingen

We are traveling to Germany on July 2013(Me, husband, 16 & 18 yr old sons)
I'm thiking of staying in Bingen. One day would be taking a boat ride to St Goarshausen then biking back to Bingen. Can't figure out how far and how difficult onthe bike portion.

Get off in St. Goar and you'll be on the same side (west bank) of the Rhine as Bingen for the ride south. Get off in St. Goarshausen (which is right across the river from St. Goar,) and you can ride the east bank south to Rüdesheim, then catch a ferry back to Bingen.

Large signs indicate kms along the Rhine

Bingen - 536

St. Goar - 557

It's flat and easy the whole way - but you'll often need to share the asphalt with autos.

To elaborate, bike paths run along both banks of most of the distance of the Mittelrhein, but there are a few interruptions where you would need to ride alongside autotraffic.
