Tips for a day trip to Corfu

Hello~Could anyone tell me how far it is from the port to the city center in Corfu? What activities/sights would you recommend for a short day visit? I am 35 and my dad is 68...I am especially interested in any unique locations for photography. Thanks!

In addition to any answers you get here, look at Cruise Critic dot com. They have information on each port, as well as forums where you can get questions answered, and "roll calls" where you can sign up for your particular sailing, so you can arrange to meet up with others for a private tour.
