City Tourism Tax in Ireland?

I am going to Ireland in May, and have already booked my trip thru European Destinations. My travel vouchers state "There is a city tourism tax that must be paid by the passenger directly to the hotel." I have researched this high and low on the internet and cannot find any information about a city tourism tax. Does anyone who has traveled to Ireland recently have any information about this tax? I believe that it is based on the star rating of the hotel, but again, I could not find confirmation of this. Any help would be appreciated, because it will help me budget. Thank you!!!

Keri,
It is becoming more and more common in Europe for there to be a per person tax at hotels and it usually has to be paid in cash. We experienced it in Rome, Venice, and a couple of other places.
