Vernazza Rooms

Looking for a room in Vernazza that is clean and comfortable. Don't mind noise if in town center and prefer something on the cheaper end (i.e. 80 euro/night seems fair), but not gross! I found rooms associated with the Taverna del Capitano restaurant (www.tavernavernazza.com) but haven't found many reviews on this. We are two 30-somethings and can climb stairs with no problem! Any suggestions out there from people who may have stayed in Vernazza?
Thank you!

Kari,

We stayed in Vernazza in 2010. We got a room from Francamaria. Her website is http://www.francamaria.com/francamaria_info_contacts.htm

We stayed in Room #5. No view but we thought it was reasonably priced.

I booked the La Marina Rooms from Rick's book. Cristian was very helful via email. Depending on the time of year it could be in your 80euro a night or slightly higher. We took room N1 for a view of the hill and harbor. I can see straight water view anytime here in Florida.

Rick has other suggestions in his book for cheaper rooms then that too.

we stayed, last summer, in one of the Maria C. rooms, it was right at the bottom of town near the water and the square---very clean room, we had a very small room with a window that looked out onto the stairwell---so not very picturesque, but a very clean room for the price---up about 20 or so stairs, but very clean, we were there in mid september and the noise was not an issue at all.
Hope this helps and have a wonderful time.
Terry

We also stayed at Francamaria several years ago and thought it was fine. The only noise was from cat fights in the alley that our room overlooked. Looks like the hotel has been redecorated. Breakfast was not included.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I am thinking it might be nice to have a room with a balcony or view and would be willing to pay a bit more for this. Even if the room doesn't have a balcony, but the apt/hotel does, it might be nice to come back and sit with a bottle of wine staring over the ocean! Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

We are also looking for a room in Vernazza. I looked at Francmaria but you had to enter a credit card before you booked a room. Sharon, is this what you did or did you contact someone before you entered this info?

Thanks!
Laura

Monanati,

It was two years ago, so I don't remember. However, I must have. I had no problems with anyone misusing my credit card number. Just so you know, we stayed in room #5. It had no view and was small but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway!
