Travelling with pets

My sister has lived in France for five years and is planning to move to Spain .
Can she take her pets dos and cats two of each across the border without a pet passport?

Thank you

Samantha

"Can she take her pets dos and cats two of each across the border without a pet passport?" Well, nobody is going to check at the border. However, I suspect that not having a pet passport will be a problem when she takes them to the vet, either for routine vaccinations or if they become ill. Do they at least have an imbedded chip?

Hi

Yes, they do have a microchip and are vaccinated. My sister just needed to know do they need a pet passport officially it had not occured to her before as she assumed someone good be living on the border of rural France and Spain and pets could walk in and out of France and Spain daily.

Thanks for your reply

Well, to clarify, officially, yes, she does need a pet passport. But as I noted previously, nobody will check at the border.

However, if she is moving to Spain, the animals will eventually need booster vaccinations. If there is an incident and the police become invovled, without a pet passport, the animals could be subjected to quarantine or even autopsy if she can't prove their vaccination status.
