On the day we arrived, as soon as we had our bags in our room, my sister and I checked our map and made our way to the market in Rue Cler as recommended by Rick. Had a great time making up our picnic. Then we set off in the direction of the Champs de Mars Park. As we rounded a corner, there was the Eiffel Tower looming in front of us! We stood there in awe with our baguette sandwiches in hand, looked at each other and said, "WE'RE REALLY IN PARIS!"

The whole trip was a "WOW" moment. I knew there were beautiful sites in Paris, but I was not prepared for the beauty and charm of the whole city. I expected the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame to be great, but I didn't realize that I would encounter 20-30 other beautiful sites in between. The one thing I recalled that stopped me in my tracks was seeing the Pont Alexandre bridge in the morning sunshine. I had gone for a walk alone before the tour started and came upon this bridge. The detail of the carvings, signs, lampposts and all the gold glistening in the sun was breathtakingly beautiful. I was also thrilled to see all the rollerbladers going past the opera Garnier on our way to the Metro stop after dinner. Couldn't wait to tell my kids about that sight.

After our last group dinner we elected to walk to a Metro stop further away in order to see the Paris Opera all lit up. As we approached the corner thousands of rollerbladers skated by us, around the corner, and past the Opera. We learned it happens every Friday and the rollerbladers are even given a police escort. It was a quite a sight!

The entire trip was a "wow"! I gained so much knowledge from our guide, Toni, as well as our local guides. My favorite day was the one spent in Montmartre. It was so exciting to see where the great artists had lived and worked.
