Magic Moments in Paris: Goose Bumps from Paris Tour Alums

Day-by-day itineraries can give you a general idea of what you'll get for your money, but they can't prepare you for the unexpected ways that Paris can sneak up on you...and perform a little magic. Here are a few "wow" moments from our tour alums...
I think the entire week and experiencing the thrill, the excitement, and the lights of Paris and all it has to offer was a "wow" experience for me. If I had to single out one magic memory it would be the lovely singing of the nuns at the Sacré-Coeur.

Actually, there were several for me — times I found myself saying, "Am I really seeing this?" The first was the day we arrived in Paris, checked into our hotel, then walked to the Eiffel Tower. Wow! I was just not prepared for how massive it is. Another of those moments happened in the Louvre standing in front of the Venus de Milo. Kristen let the group know about some concerts that were being performed several evenings at Ste. Chapelle, and she arranged tickets for us. I'm a musician, and sitting in that unbelievable space and listening to Mozart trios quite simply brought tears to my eyes.

The Eiffel Tower in the daytime, nighttime, under it, on it and on a park bench near it. Funny it never looked so massive in the movies. It was so mesmerizing when the lights came on and then again when they went on/off like strobes late at night. We walked over from the hotel each night before retiring to relish the beauty of this temporary structure the French were smart enough to let become permanent for the enjoyment of all visitors. Viva la France...

Paris in general is pretty magical, but my favorite moment of the trip was shopping for cheese and wine one evening along Rue Cler. It was snowing in the twilight, and the whole neighborhood seemed to be out in the street enjoying the evening. It made me feel like I could live there.
