Hi from Rick: Our New Adriatic Tour

Dear Traveler,
Walking through a thick forest, the trees suddenly part for a stunning view overlooking Croatia's Plitvice Lakes National Park. Stretching before me is a European Niagara Falls, diced and sprinkled over a heavily forested Grand Canyon. Heading down the steep zigzag path, I enter a pristine world of deep greens and blues. As I reach the edge of a lake, the trail turns into a network of rustic, lake-crossing boardwalks where mortals can walk on water. The lazy trout seem to understand that fishing is forbidden. They're huge, plentiful and oblivious to the many Croatian families relaxing here.
It's hard to believe that here, on Easter Sunday 1991, the first shots of Croatia's war with Yugoslavia were fired. Today that feels like ancient history, and this peaceful park is a popular travel destination...for Europeans. The same can be said for the long-overlooked Adriatic region in general. So I think it's high time we help you discover what so many Americans have missed — the Best of the Adriatic.
This week we've launched an exciting new 2-week tour that takes you to the lakes, the mountains, the hill towns, the islands, and the rich historic sights of the Adriatic — from Plitvice to Ljubljana to Istria to Split to Hvar to Mostar and Dubrovnik. You can learn all about the Best of the Adriatic in 14 Days (a few departures in 2007, with many more coming in 2008) in this month's Tour News, with a bunch of articles on this remarkable corner of Europe.
If you traveled with us anywhere on a tour in 2006, this is your last reminder to enter our annual online Tour Scrapbook Contest before the March 1st deadline. It's a fun way to share your travel thrills with others — and maybe win a tour in the process. Think about it. In a few months you could find yourself walking through a thick forest, and the trees suddenly part for a stunning view...
Happy travels,
Rick
