"I felt amazed and awed to be standing in Westminster Abbey on top of memorials to famous literary figures such as TS Elliot and Chaucer. Hearing our guide's lecture about the Rosetta Stone and the Parthenon in the British Museum of History — so amazing! Also, St. Paul's Cathedral — an amazing structure, so white and full of light. Hearing about how the cathedral was preserved in rather miraculous ways during the Blitz through the efforts of the Fire Brigade made that segment of history come alive for me."

"There were so many 'wow' moments, but there is one event that our tour guide made happen and it truly touched my heart. There were three librarians in our group (just by chance) and while we were at the Glastonbury Abbey, he arranged with the Abbey librarian for a few of us to come up and visit the library. This man stayed after work just for us to come up and see a library that has been in operation for 550 years. Bless the librarian and bless our guide for making it happen."

"There was a moment when our tour guide Anne played a CD by Edie Reader who was singing Robby Burns. I sat back in my comfy seat on the bus, looked out the window as we rolled along the hills of the Scottish Highlands, and somehow the history and dates and castles and battles all came together — and I felt that I did indeed belong to this country. I had been told that I had Scottish ancestry, but now I knew it. Magic! I am not sure how she did it, but our tour guide made it all come to life for me."

"I had a lot of favorite things. Overall, I especially liked our guide's ability to fill us in on the politics and history in a way everyone understood — no mean feat when it comes to Irish history! His love for music and the arts in general was a wonderful contribution. He sang and played us the music of Irish musicians. We had the opportunity to actually see a performance from one group he'd played for us. He also gave us great background on the literature so that by the time we reached certain places we could appreciate it better. I was thrilled to be in Belfast and to sign a message on the peace wall and to see the Sinn Fein office."
