Hi from Rick: 2014 Winter Escapes
In our July Tour News we're kicking off next year's tour season with a lively, affordable lineup of winter 2014 getaways — seven itineraries I've specially selected for their winter-friendliness and deep ($500 to $800) discounts.
In many parts of Europe, the fun doesn't set with the sun...it's just getting started. Fewer crowds, relaxing dinners and cool comfort make even a winter getaway an ideal opportunity to recharge the soul — in just a few magical days and nights.
The advantages of off-season travel are many. Airfares are often hundreds of dollars cheaper, and it's easier to find seats on the flight you want. You can ponder in Rome's Forum undisturbed, practice your French with students in the Paris Métro, and always find a table at a popular bar on the French Riviera. In Venice, you can be alone atop St. Mark's bell tower and watch the clouds of your breath roll over the Byzantine domes of the church to a horizon of cut-glass Alps, as pigeons around you fidget and wonder, "Where are the tourists?"
Check out our lineup of affordable winter 2014 escapes — and keep an eye out for our September edition of Tour News (around August 15th) when we roll out the rest of our 2014 touring season. No matter when you plan to go, 2014 promises to be a great year for discovering more of Europe. I hope you can join us.
