Rick was featured on CBS's "60 Minutes" on Wednesday, May 25th. The crew filmed at our Edmonds office last fall, then followed him to Amsterdam and Germany on a whirlwind guidebook research trip.
Here's what CBS had to say about the feature:
For millions of Americans, planning a vacation in Europe means following, literally, in the footsteps of one man. Rick Steves is a backpacker who has become a business tycoon by writing about life on the road. His 30 travel guides sell about half a million copies a year, and legions of travelers use his guidebooks like bibles — so many so that a review from Rick (as he's widely known) can make or break a tourist attraction from Barcelona to Budapest. On the road about four months a year, Rick Steves' mission is not only to teach Americans how to travel smartly, but how to immerse themselves into other cultures.
