Ever since public television first broadcast our Rick Steves' Iran special, I've been showered with requests to add Iran to our European tour program.
I appreciate everyone's encouragement, but running an Iran tour is well beyond our area of expertise. However, Abdi Sami, the man who served as my guide and associate producer while we filmed in Iran, will be taking two groups of travelers to Iran this fall and another group next spring.
Abdi is a gracious and well-connected Persian American who grew up in Iran and knows his homeland well. I found traveling in Iran — which is perfectly legal for Americans — to be both exciting and safe. And I found Abdi to be extremely organized, reliable, and an inspirational teacher.
