Support a Good Cause and Save 25% on a Eurail Pass

While I was in D.C. recently, I worked with the citizens' action group Bread for the World to lobby members of Congress to increase our development assistance to poor countries. There is a serious need for our government to follow through on America's commitment to the Millennium Development Goals — joining other nations in giving one percent of their budgets to developmental aid. I was impressed with the dogged and effective campaign they wage to educate people on how our government’s decisions effect hungry and homeless people at home and around the world. They excel at working with congress to write bills or review existing bills addressing these issues. Historically each and every dollar given to Bread for the World generates more than $100 in aid to hungry people. Learn more at www.bread.org

Here's a chance to support a good cause as part of your upcoming travels. Because of our sales success last year, Rick Steves' Europe through the Back Door has been awarded 44 Eurail Global Flexipasses (any 15 days out of a two-month period, first class travel anywhere in all 20 western European countries covered). I'll give these for free to the first 44 travelers who each send us an $850 donation for Bread for the World. You save 25% over the normal price for this pass or 14% over the "saverpass" price. Over the past four years, this "sale" has raised $135,000 for Bread for the World, and in 2008 we can raise another $37,400.

Happy travels,

Rick
