Description:
This March, traveling couch potatoes across the USA will travel with Rick on another public television travel special. Rick Steves' new two-hour Insider's Europe special gets you intimate with the unique ways locals embrace life on a canal barge in Burgundy, along the Lago di Como near Milano, as well as a behind-the-screen peak at the life of Rick and his crew while on the road. During pledge breaks, Rick entertains viewers with practical travel tips and the latest travel news from Europe. He also reminds supporters that "Public television is your next best thing to a plane ticket...and it just can't happen without your support."
Program Description:
Rick's Insider's Europe Pledge Special includes three half-hour episodes.
# 406: Milan and Lake Como
No trip to Italy is complete without Milan and Lake Como. In Milan, we'll take a peek at Italy's highest fashion, fanciest delis, grandest cemetery and greatest opera house…not to mention Leonardo's Last Supper. Then we'll cruise along Lake Como, settling down in the lakeside village of Varenna… classic honeymoon country, where Italy meets the Alps.
# 411: Rick Steves' Europe: The Making of
After 16 years and more than 100 travel shows, Rick and his crew take you behind the scenes to show you just how they produce this series. Joining the crew as they scamper through Milan and around Lake Como, you'll follow the creative process as the challenges and surprises that come with travel are shaped into a finished show.
# 501: Burgundy
In this show we'll build a castle, appreciate fine Burgundy wine, visit a medieval hospice, build a barrel, slurp escargot, ponder medieval monasticism, drop in on a modern monastic community, and eat very very well.
