Travel guru Rick Steves flying high again, with 11 new TV shows this fall

Rick Steves and his TV crew have just flown home from another summer in Europe, unpacking 11 new half-hour episodes for his award-winning "Rick Steves' Europe" public television series. These fresh, informative shows (all shot in glorious high-definition) are appearing on public television stations nationwide, starting in October.

In this new season, Rick takes us to great cities we've come to expect: dodging vespas in Naples, feeling the thriving pulse of chic Milan, donning a kilt in bonnie Edinburgh, and waltzing through Vienna.

Rick's newest shows also bring us vividly into the villages and countryside as never before. It's as if we're right there — scaling steaming Mount Vesuvius, lapping up la dolce vita in Tuscany, and communing with alpine nature in Austria's Salzkammergut lake district. Teaming up with Rick, we join a shepherd and his dog rustling sheep in the pristine mountains of northern Wales, and follow frisky hounds through an Umbrian oak forest as they sniff out precious truffles. And in each episode, we meet people who dish up travel experiences with a contagious joie de vivre that inspires us to live life to its fullest.

These episodes include five filmed in Italy (Naples, Amalfi, Hilltowns, Tuscan Dolce Vita), three in Britain (North Wales, Edinburgh, and Bath/York), and two in Austria (Vienna and Salzburg). The series finale is a special "making of" episode taking viewers behind the scenes.

The Rick Steves' Europe film crew is a small one — just three members: Rick, producer Simon Griffith, and one of two different cameramen. Steve Cammarano does the editing back home. Underwritten by American Airlines and presented by Oregon Public Broadcasting, "Rick Steves' Europe" has now grown to include 70 shows appearing on more than 300 stations annually.

"Rick Steves' Europe" can be seen in (city) on (station) every (day and time).
