All new season of Rick Steves' Europe takes off this fall, with 13 new shows

This fall, Rick Steves unpacks 13 new half-hour episodes for his award-winning "Rick Steves' Europe" public television series. These fresh, informative shows (all shot in vivid high-definition) are appearing on public television stations nationwide, starting in October.

In his exciting fifth season, America's favorite travel guide takes us to great cities: from biking the back lanes of Copenhagen and waltzing through the Habsburg glory of Vienna to being tenderized by a burly masseuse under a Byzantine dome in Istanbul.

Season five also transports us vividly into Europe's villages and countryside. It's as if we're right there with Rick — slurping escargot in Burgundy, wandering through Salvador Dali's home, and hopping a zippy water taxi to the desolate side of a Greek isle for the perfect sunset. We walk with geese in a land where foie gras is almost a religion, commune with Viking ghosts on Denmark's "ship-in-a-bottle" isle, and scamper through Delphi's dramatic ruins at the very spot that Zeus considered the center of the world.

After 18 years and more than a hundred episodes, Rick takes his newest series to a thrilling and captivating finale — inviting you to join him on a personal journey of discovery in Iran as he demystifies this rich and complex culture of 70 million people. From the 2,500-year-old ruins of Persepolis to the tomb of Khomeini, from the Keystone-Cop craziness of a motorcycle-taxi ride in Tehran to a Persian banquet in a private home, and from the US embassy to a martyrs' cemetery — this show offers a rare, candid, and humanizing look at a great if perplexing nation.

The Rick Steves' Europe film crew is a small one — just three members: Rick, producer Simon Griffith, and one of two different cameramen. Steve Cammarano edits the episodes back home in Edmonds, Wash. Presented by Oregon Public Broadcasting, "Rick Steves' Europe" has now grown to include 83 shows appearing on more than 300 stations annually.

"Rick Steves' Europe" can be seen in (city) on (station) every (day and time).
