Information Systems Manager
Rick Steves' Europe is looking for an experienced technology leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale websites and e-commerce systems. This person will oversee the planning and implementation of our websites, network infrastructure, and business software applications.
The Information Systems Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Manage the information systems department according to Europe through the Back Door's business goals and policies. Supervise website development team and Systems Administrator.
- Provide leadership in utilizing current and emerging technologies: customer self-service web portals, audio/video streaming platforms, and content management systems.
- Determine priorities and direct the development, implementation, and maintenance of our business applications, staff Intranet and e-commerce initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing team on the development of all customer facing web applications. Provide leadership on interactive design methods.
- Formulate strategic plans for capturing and maintaining business information to enable better decision-making and customer management. Provide web metrics reporting.
- Ensure that computer equipment, hardware, and software are updated to meet organizational needs.
- Perform reviews, audits, and interviews to ensure conformance with business standards.
- Monitor the security of company data and systems.
The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Ability to prototype design concepts, and implement solutions effectively. Self-motivated with high degree of initiative and excellent follow up skills along with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Proven management skills and experience within a comparable information technology department.
- Ability to mentor entry level team members and to cross-train staff members on other lines of business.
- Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to express complex technical and business concepts clearly and adjust accordingly to audience.
- Strong personal computing skills with emphasis on Microsoft applications and technologies.
- Well versed in web services and other application integration technologies.
- Flexibility in a dynamic work environment and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to delegate effectively to internal staff and contract programmers. Ability to prioritize project workload.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work as a team player. Readiness to pitch in on outside projects as needed and handle day-to-day user issues.
- Flexibility with hours, since some tasks will need to be accomplished after close of business to minimize interruptions to staff.
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines, while effectively communicating project progress to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Rick Steves travel program preferred.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science.
- 8 years experience managing enterprise level websites and e-commerce applications.
- Experience with the following: .NET, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Flash
- Understanding of data modeling and design, especially using SQL server 2000/2005.
- Experience with network infrastructure development a plus.
